Fall is just starting to turn the air chilly. The trees are beginning to change colors as the nights slowly grow colder and longer. As time marches towards winter, frost will begin to appear in the mornings and the lake will slowly start freezing over. Predictions say this will be a hard winter, which is a good thing, Thread will not ravage the surface this winter but instead fall as harmless black dust onto the ground.
Threadfall:
Falling once or twice a week, the menace has returned to plague Telgar.
The Red Star:
Still visible it has reached the midway point for the pass.
The Weyrs:
Telgar is officially open for business. The Weyr is slowly filling up with riders and personnel and will be taking on its new responsibilities within the month. A council of Goldriders and Wingleaders rule the Weyr until such time as the first Mating Flight takes place and determines who the Weyrwoman and her consort will be.
The College:
Classes have resumed for the year at Fort Hold. With Weyrs going on search for the year's Candidate base, the teachers are not happy. Rumor has it they are even turning some Weyrs' dragons away.
The Holds:
Still struggling, the people living in the Holds are hoping for a break from the monotonous work day while still going about their usual task of trying to improve their surroundings and quality of life.

Appearance: J'son has green eyes and black hair. He has a full head of curls that he keeps shoulder length, about as long as a good fighting dragonrider would dare. In build, he is slim but limber from his work as a dragonrider. He is fairly tall, about 6'0, and he weight about 155 lb. His complexion is darkly tanned, a result of spending time outside training with the Wing.
J'son is very careful about his appearance, and he always tries very hard to appear neat and well groomed. He is picky about clothing, and only wears the best quality clothes unless he is going to be doing some dirty work that day.
Personality: The side of J'son most people see is an arrogant, self-centered man. He is quite conceited, and tends to think of himself before others. J'son has a high opinion of himself and he is easily offended. However, he has no qualms about offending others. He is outspoken and words often fall out of his mouth without being filtered through his brain first. J'son also has a bit of a problem with authority, as he does not like to act meek and mild for anyone. The exception is Threadfall, when he follows his Wingleader's orders without question.
However, much of his arrogance is to cover up his real emotions. J'son has some fear of opening up to people. He only confides his innermost feelings to very close friends, which he doesn't really have at the moment. And, of course, to his dragon. He does not hide anything from Hinayeth, and anyone who catches a glimpse of J'son in a quiet moment with his blue will see his softer side come out. He is afraid to let people too close, possibly because of all the moving around he has done in his life. He has never had a chance to settle down before.
Aside from dragonriding, J'son also devotes himself to two other hobbies. Gardening is difficult in a Weyr, but he keeps window boxes in his weyr with different kinds of flowers. His second hobby, hair cutting, is one he will readily dispense to anyone in the Weyr...for a few marks.
History: Jason Winters was born to Mack and Michelle Winters, two of the original settlers at Landing. Mack was a sled pilot, and Michelle eagerly fulfilled her duty to populate Pern through childbirth. Jason is a middle sibling, and has an older sister, Tammy, two older brothers Tim and Ian (Twins), and a younger sister, Marcia. It was a big family, but all of the children were well cared for and a little spoiled by their mother. Jason had a happy, even idyllic childhood, except for the everyday fear of Thread. From a young age, Jason enjoyed helping his mother tend her herb garden. He had a real green thumb and even as a child he knew he wanted to go into botany. Jason was very close to his mother and loved helping her with everything.
When he was twelve, both of his parents and his younger sister perished in the Fever Year. Jason was sent to live with trusted friends of the family in Boll Hold. He was grieving and he hated his new family, so he became rebellious. Jason hid his grief under a layer of arrogance, something which he has never managed to shrug off. He also turned to flirting, finding that he could find temporary solace in the arms of a woman...or a man, as he was discovering that he liked both.
After two years at Boll, he made his "escape" and went to College to follow his dream of studying botany. There, he developed an interest in hydroponics and began to specialize. To earn money, he also started using one of the skills his mother had taught him, cutting hair. Jason became known as a barber at College and he discovered that he actually liked it.
However, his final career was not to be in either hydroponics or hairdressing. When he was 18, a Search dragon noticed him, and Jason was asked to come to the Weyr. He stood on the sands of Fort Weyr, and egg after egg hatched and Impressed. The dragons all walked by him without a second glance. He was growing discouraged, and people were leaving the sands as the last eggs hatched. There was only one tiny egg left. A tiny blue hatched out of it. He ran to his chosen...Jason.
Jason was happy to Impress a blue, and knew that Hinayeth was the perfect dragon for him. His Impression made him even more arrogant, and he adopted an attitude of superiority over non-riders. He changed his name to J'son, making it clear he was a rider now, better than everyone. He barely managed to settle down for weyrling training, and when he graduated he had become more confident and outgoing than ever, and perhaps more insufferable.
As a rider, he has been moved around more than once. His wingleader drew to move to Benden, and then Telgar Weyr was founded, J'son's Wing was chosen to go to the new Weyr.

Name: Iekath

Hatching Date: Turn 22
Physical Description: Iekath is fairly small for a blue, with a trim build that is best for agility and speed. He is a very well proportioned, handsome dragon despite his small size. His hide is a light, powder blue with speckles of cobalt on his chest and haunches.
Personality: Like his rider, Iekath is rather arrogant. He is very concerned about his appearance and he likes nothing more than a bath and a fresh oiling. He is a show off and likes to be in the spotlight. Iekath has been known to flirt something fierce with his favorite greens...and he has a new favorite just about every day.
History: The last egg on the sands was tiny, but it was strong, rocking hard as cracks spread down its shell. Abruptly, the shell crumbled, leaving a pale blue dragon on the sands. Iekath creeled, startled by his sudden arrival. Shaking his head, he stood on unsteady legs and staggered towards the candidates. Some were leaving already! Scared His would leave, he barreled towards them, knocking over one boy and stepping over him. With that boy out of the way, he saw the one he wanted. Jason! I am Iekath, and you are mine!

Iekath provided some troubles in weyrling training because of his tendency to show off and be reckless. However, he turned out to be a valuable Thread fighter and an agile flyer. He was also successful with the ladies, winning a few green Flights at Benden. Iekath has picked up on his rider's enthusiasm for the transfer and he is happy to be at Telgar.

Zeppelin, I did notice J'son has two Flitts. Do you want them to have an active role at Telgar? I believe Thyme is implementing a new rule for flitts that unless flitts have an active role in the character's life ect, were not excepting them right now. If they do, you would need to write up a history for them.
If you would like to keep them, I would pm Thyme. If you want to write up their history before hand it's strictly up to you.

Being 6 feet tall and weighing in at 155 pounds is making him nothing but skin and bones. A guy that tall with all the dragonriding muscles should weigh closer to 170 or 180 pounds.
In the rider profile you have the dragon called Hinayeth but the dragon profile says Iekath. Also please put the dragons age next to his birth year.
Rizzo mentioned flits. If you really want one, you can keep one but not both. You'll have to come up with a description for it (like a dragons with physical and personality) and you'll have to play it in order to keep it. They're rare at the Weyr and we'll be giving them out as prizes for contests and doing things on the site. If you'd like to get rid of them and possibly get one later, that would be fine.
I'd like see a little bit more about how life was after he Impressed. Weyrling training, graduating, life as a dragonrider, etc. He looks good right now, I'd just like to see him fleshed out a bit more since he seems like a fun character.
